Although it hasn’t felt much like Fall yet, the final week of the 2016 CSA season is upon us. I do believe this week we will be in for some more Fall-like weather with a couple of frosty mornings and crispy nights predicted. The CSA shares have reflected the crazy mild temperatures with sweet peppers, hot peppers and zucchini in store for last week. Every year is different in farming and it always keeps you on your toes. Thinking back on this year, the things that stand out in my mind are,
The good: We lost our entire first planting of sweet corn to root maggots. Decided to order more seed and replant in mid June. That sweet corn crop was then laid flat by a windy summer storm but stood right back up to produce like no other!
The bad: No Neck Pumpkin crop this year
The ugly: Those dang squash bugs that killed our neck pumpkins!
A lot of things stand out in my mind about this year and the good far outweighs the bad. What did everyone else think? We love feedback whether it’s good, bad, or ugly!!

Although this is the last week for the CSA, we will still have our honey and frozen chicken for sale all winter at the farm. The jars of honey make for great Christmas presents and we even had a couple of CSA shares given as gifts this past year. We will have the details of the 2017 CSA up in the end of December.
Thank you from my family for supporting our farm this year. We hope you have a wonderful winter and we see you again in the Spring!
